the Audio Technica LP7 (belt) and Pioneer PLX1000 (direct) are right in
that price range, seem very well built, and are well reviewed. Others
to consider include Rega Planar 2, Project X1, Music Hall MMF 3.3.
You can probably find online reviews on all
of the above, which will provide more details than I can. The Pioneer
probably has the best technical specs because it’s direct drive. The
Project and Rega likely have significantly better tonearm than Fluance.
They probably all have better plinth, platter, and motor than Fluance.
Having said that, Fluance is great for the under $500 range. |
