- Make sure none on the battery cells are shorted.
- Empty the Acid from the Battery.
- Refill with water and Baking Soda; 1/4 cup Baking Soda &
2 quarts water (tap water will work)
You do this to get rid of the acid and clean out the internal
parts of the battery. Let it soak 30 minutes or more.
- Empty the water and do the cleaning process again. Do this
until the water comes out clear instead of gray. You want the
inside clean, for best results.
- Empty and Refill with Distilled Water. Do this a few times.
You are making sure the insides are clean and free of
deposits.
- Now you are ready to add the Alum. Mix 1/4 cup of Alum
powder with about a liter of Distilled water. Fill the
battery; make certain the cells plates are completely covered
with liquid. Another formula uses 4oz Alum to 40oz of Water
(1/10 ratio).
- Now charge the battery at a low rate , 2 to 5 amps, for a
few minutes, then make sure it is taking the charge. The
voltage should start increasing. Continue charging. This new
alkaline battery can be discharged and charged like a Deep
Cycle Battery. John Bedini has discharged his to only 1/2 a
volt left in the battery. My charger works at 300 MA, 5 amps,
and 8 amps.
John Bedini demonstrates how to
make an Alum Battery, using Alum Sulfate as the electrolyte
instead of Sulfuric Acid.
He takes a useless 12v Lead Acid Car Battery and converts it
to an Alum Battery.
The sulfated lead plates clean themselves, and the battery
restores itself, using Alum as the electrolyte, instead of
Sulfuric Acid.
The advantages of the alum battery
are many:
- The battery fluid is non
corrosive
- The battery gas is not
explosive
- The battery can be discharged
more deeply
- The battery can be charged
much faster
- The battery will last longer
- There is no corrosion of the
terminals
- It is extremely cheap
- More power in cold weather
- Environmentally Friendly
- 1.75 times the storage
capacity as a Lead Acid Battery
- No memory effect for charging
and discharging
Use Alum Sulfate
