Series V Parallel?
]It's a compromise, just like everything else. Series wiring gives you more torque,
parallel wiring gives you more speed. Figure out which one you need more for your
particular design. Or just try both and see what kind of feed rate, acceleration and
force you can achieve in each configuration.
Myth?
The reason that parallel gives you more speed, is because it gives you more torque at higher speeds.
Find a manufacturer that has torque curve charts for a motor, and has both series and parallel charts. Parallel will have more torque throughout the entire rpm range, except for maybe holding torque up to 100-200rpm.
So, I would always recommend parallel,unless your drives can't supply enough current to run parallel.
