I remember having read about the loudspeakers. It was 16 cheap Quam 5A07 drivers (now obsolete). He wired them using a Series/parallel/ wiring to suit the Quam drivers.
But I dont know much else about the speakers. The idea is looking good, and I could imagine they sounded good.
I am particulary interested in their deep bass. That many units cover quiet a lot of driver surface.
The tweeter was an Olson S297.
The notion was that cheap speakers had two flaws: non-linear response (random peakiness in their frequency response curves) and weak bass, while nonetheless preserving the ability to reproduce highs and midranges. The ’16 used 16 drivers, each with its own irregular response, which statistically evened out when there were 16 coupled together, producing a “sweet” sound.
Anecdotally, my first book on building loudspeakers insisted that having two speaker enclosures of the same make and design merely duplicated the common shortcomings.
