Plasma Cutting with the 4th state of matter.
Plasma cutting is one of the most economical ways of cutting up metal for various projects. The biggest obstacle for most is the price of materials.
For many a good scrap yard, recycling store or goodwill can be a source of reasonably priced materials. You can support your more expensive metal habit by up cycling various materials into
items that can be sold or traded.

There are various techniques that lend
themselves to the maker builder. Free form by hand is the least complicated technologically at the expense of accuracy. Next comes the use of templates
which can be of cardboard, wood, metal. Beyond that Circle Cuttters and straight edges. Ultimately CNC Plasma Cutting.

There are ways of  Upgrading entry level machines to perform like much higher priced units.
Pilot Arc being a relatively  simple upgrade if you have moderate tech skills.

Plasma Cutting Without Z access control or THC Torch Height Control
You can create a CNC plasma cutter  without z access control however there will be issues with increased use of consumables and accuracy of cuts. More Bevel.

You can use lightburn software but ideally one should use a software specifically created for
plasma cutting.
There is an app for android that makes a laser engraver stand alone.  See convert Video.

There are 3 different sets of printed parts C-23.5mm, F-25mm, or J-25.4mm (1 inch). The measurement is for the Outside Diameter of the conduit/rails/tubing. Please measure your rails before printing! 23.5mm fits ¾″ EMT conduit in the US. Anywhere else you must physically measure first. Some things are sold as Inside Dimension (ID) (conduit), or Outside Dimension (OD) (tubing).

I often get metal from SpeedyMetals.com or onlinemetals.com.
If I am already getting other hardware and such I will sometimes get metal from McMaster.com
Between the 3 I can never guess which will have the best price, always have to check all 3.

Generally speaking, hot roll steel has a rougher surface, wider tolerances, and lower cost.
It is used most commonly for construction, welding, and other projects where tight tolerances and exceptional finishes are not necessary.

By comparison, cold roll steel has a smoother surface finish, higher strength, and tighter tolerances.
Cold rolled steel is superior if tight tolerances, smooth surface finishes, or consistency are crucial.
